Our Values
Simply put, character and integrity matter. But there is so much more to it than just saying so.
As investment advisors, we are fiduciaries. We have a legal and ethical obligation to act solely in the best interest of our clients. Client interests always come first, it is our duty to put your interests ahead of our own. You can learn more about that here and here.
As a CFA Charterholder, Mr. Sparling is bound to one of the highest sets of professional and ethical standards in the investment industry. And as a firm, Orcus has committed to be compliant with those standards at all times. To learn more about those standards and criteria, we refer you to our Form ADV Part 2B and the CFA Institute website.
We also know how much clients value transparency. We like that, because we don’t know any other way to do business. We shoot straight, deliver what we promised and work hard to create value. It may be old fashioned, but it’s how we work.
We are curious, lifelong learners eager to learn new things. Colleagues and peers have noticed an aptitude for coaching and teaching and we believe you’ll see that as part of a relationship with Orcus. We don’t intend to let either habit get rusty!
Oh, we almost forgot to mention it, but we’ve been told* we are “kind of mathy”. When engaging analytical problems, we decompose them into digestible pieces, identifying the big drivers and quantifying their impacts. We believe we can make better decisions with that info.
And finally, if you choose to engage us, that is a privilege. We will be on your journey together.
(*) This unforgettable comment was made by a highly respected legal colleague while in the throes of a high-visibility negotiation, and it could not be more true. After some hearty laughter, we went on to finish our take-out in the conference room before working long into the night to close the deal.
