We believe a 5-Step process fits most engagements and adjust as necessary to suit our clients.
Step 1: Interview
Let’s start with a free 30-minute discussion
In this first interaction, we will:
Discuss client goals and objectives
Review key investing concepts and terminology
Review types of engagement and fees
Discuss custodian capabilities and types of accounts available
Identify household members for which an account will be opened
Outcome: Assess mutual fit, decide to move to next step
Step 2: Gather Client Data
If both parties determine there is a good fit, client data is collected
Client fills out and securely uploads an onboarding form with other pertinent data
Data gathered usually includes:
Responses to questions which indicate client risk appetite and preferences
Income and expense data
Inventory of liquid and illiquid financial assets
Pension and Social Security benefit statements
A list of real assets and their estimated value
Mortgages, Leases and a recent tax return
Outcome: Orcus has sufficient data to model suitable asset allocation options
Step 3: Account Set-up
Next, we set up accounts with our custodian
Confirm account types for household members
Gather bank/brokerage account data for funding the accounts
Initiate application process
Set up initial funding of accounts (and, if desired, ongoing funding)
Review monthly statements and performance details online and in app
Discuss mechanics and timing of invoices
Outcome: Open and fund accounts, get familiar with account details on app
Step 4: Modeling & Analytics
Client sits back and waits
Orcus cranks up models to illustrate what a suitable portfolio might look like
This can include modeling a client’s current portfolio as a baseline and other alternatives
Output includes expected risk and return attributes provided in a PDF report
Outcome: Orcus has at least one portfolio to review with client and schedules time to do so
Step 5: Implementation
We review recommended allocation and begin deploying assets
Orcus provides a step-plan which will be followed to allocate client assets
Reallocation of an existing portfolio
Deploying cash in a new portfolio or portfolios
Client monitors progress via app in account at custodian
Orcus notifies when allocation is complete
Orcus begins continuous ongoing reviews of portfolio
Outcome: Client assets are deployed and periodic review is scheduled
